Vicki Lynn McKee (née Rider), born August 11, 1946, in San Francisco, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 4, 2026, after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
Vicki was raised in Los Angeles, where she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” McKee, when they were just teenagers. Their young love grew into a lifelong partnership, and they married on November 28, 1964. Together, they built a marriage of over 61 years that was defined by devotion, loyalty, and an enduring love.
Vicki and Bob shared a great love for adventure and exploring the world together. While they traveled to far-reaching places like China, Italy, and Alaska, and twice drove across the United States, Hawaii held a special place in her heart. Maui was her favorite destination, one they returned to time and again throughout their lives. These adventures, often shared with close friends, created a lifetime of cherished memories.
A person of immense kindness, Vicki always made sure others were taken care of. She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments—working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles, taking annual summer camping trips with her family, and especially cherishing spring break trips to Palm Springs with her grandchildren, Tori and Dominic.
Vicki’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob McKee; her son, Bobby McKee and his wife, Maria McKee, along with her children, Dale and Lauren Okpik; and her daughter, Christine (Robin) LaRocco and her husband, Vince LaRocco, and their children, Victoria (Tori) and Dominic. She also leaves behind her brother, Michael Rider, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Francis Rider; her sister, Corinne Smith; and her brothers, Billy, Wayne, and Dennis Rider.
Vicki will be remembered for her quiet strength, her selfless nature, and the beautiful life she built with her husband—one filled with shared traditions and a bond that lasted a lifetime. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral services will be held. Before her passing, Vicki made it known that her sole wish was for loved ones to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her honor. Fulfilling this wish meant everything to her, and seeing her legacy of kindness live on through your generosity would mean the absolute world to her husband, Bob, and her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory. St. Jude’s Memorial Page: https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Memorials/Memorials?pg=personal&px=9253272&fr_id=154020
