Stephen Leroy Schader passed away on February 9th after a long battle with health issues. He
was 83. Steve was a true westerner, born in Alameda, California in 1941 to Roy Schader
(b.Utah) and Ruth Frances Myers (b.Arizona).
Steve’s early years were spent in Oakland but then at age 9 his family moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Steve’s teenage years were characterized by flying into remote areas of Alaska to fish with buddies (at that time you could get a pilot’s license at 14!). Steve was also a championship bowler, winning many tournaments.
After graduating high school Steve returned to California to attend Whittier College.
Steve spent his career as a wall coverings contractor.
He loved his work, which allowed him plenty of opportunities to problem solve, hone his diplomatic skills & exercise his creativity working with designers, construction superintendents and wall coverings companies.
Steve is survived by his wife, Barbara, son Erich (Erika) and daughter, Annika.
And by several close cousins whose presence have always enriched his life. Steve had many wonderful
friends who were supportive & present for him during his last few years of ill health. He was so
deeply grateful for the friendship, humor & kindness from family & friends.
