Wilma Jo Hamilton passed away peacefully on July 2, 2023 at the age of 90 and will be deeply missed. Wilma was born September 15, 1932 to George and Grace Robertson in Hereford, Texas. On August 14, 1948 Wilma married Lilburn Ray “Joe” Hamilton of Hereford, Texas. Wilma and Lilburn were blessed with three daughters, Charlotte, Patty, and Renee and shortly after moved to Amarillo, Texas to raise their family. Wilma’s greatest joys in life were being with her family, preparing meals for every occasion, especially holidays, and Wilma loved family vacation road trips.
One of Wilma’s passions was sewing and she was an excellent seamstress. Wilma also loved to do English smocking, wool felting, crocheting and knitting. She loved handwork and was always busy making something beautiful.
Wilma was a wife, a mother, a homemaker and entrepreneur. She obtained her beautician’s license and then owned her own salon in Amarillo for many years.
Wilma and Lilburn moved frequently and had the good fortune to call California, Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona home over the years. They eventually returned to Colorado to be close to their daughters and granddaughters. For Wilma and Lilburn, moving around was never thought of as a challenge but rather as an opportunity to have new adventures and to meet life-long friends along the way. Wilma’s warm personality and contagious laugh allowed her to touch the lives of many people in all the places she called home. She was everyone’s friend and everyone loved her thoughtful and caring nature.
Wilma and Lilburn raised their family in a Christian home and she had a living faith in Jesus Christ and is now with her Heavenly Father.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Lilburn Ray “Joe” Hamilton, her parents and her sister, Barbara (Bobby) Wilson.
Wilma is survived by her three daughters, Charlotte Metcalf, Patty (Dan) Creacy and Renee (Randy) Wiebke, three granddaughters, Jacqueline (Jerry) Eldridge, Mailee Creacy and Wendy Ralph, and four grandchildren, Blake and Ryan Ralph and Kyle and Courtney Eldridge.
Wilma’s final wishes were to have a private Celebration of Life with her immediate family. Her family takes so much comfort knowing that she and Lilburn are reunited and their love will continue on for all eternity.
Memorial contributions in Wilma’s honor may be made to Compassus Hospice, 3760 East 15th Street, Suite 201, Loveland, CO 80538.
