Bill was born on December 18, 1950, in Columbus, Indiana to Melvin and Lorraine Weyhrich. As his father was in the Air Force, he grew up moving around the United States. After graduating from Bishop England High School in Charleston, South Carolina he went on to follow in his father’s footsteps to join the military, serving in the Army as a helicopter pilot in the First Cavalry Aviation Brigade. He served in the Vietnam War and further continued to serve in the Air National Guard in Columbus, Ohio. He then began a 45-year career with Borden Dairy in sales and then as a Regional Vice President. He retired from Meadow Gold Dairy in Englewood, Colorado.
After Bill retired, he and his wife Karen declared Florida residency in The Villages where they lived six months out of the year. Karen and Bill enjoyed the good life in Florida, where they played endless rounds of golf, and grew relationships with treasured friends. He traveled the world with his wife, Karen, to Fiji, South Africa, Iceland, Peru, Mexico, Hawaii, and the Galapagos Islands, among other places.
Those who knew Bill will remember him for his kindness, humor, generosity, love for his family, and his sweet demeanor. He touched many lives throughout his life with his kisses hello and unexpected quips. He was a loyal friend, Papa, and husband.
Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen Mahle Weyhrich, sisters Gina Bottone and Lucy Hicks, children Abby Barry and Peter Weyhrich, and grandchildren Charlie, Ethan, Libby, Cole, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by parents Melvin and Lorraine Weyhrich.
A service to honor Bill’s life will be held on October 24th at 11:00am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00pm at Lone Tree Golf Club and Hotel. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate his memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Disabled American Veterans.
