He continued his academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Wyoming, where he was an active participant in Sigma Nu Fraternity, the tennis team, and ROTC. It was there that he met Nancy Pauline Dennison, the love of his life, who stood by his side for 58 wonderful years.
Following graduation, Larry served with distinction as a helicopter pilot in the 119th Assault Helicopter Company during the Vietnam War, stationed at Camp Holloway in Pleiku from March 1968 to March 1969. His career spanned roles in the gas and oil industry in Colorado and Oklahoma before he transitioned to working for the Attorney General of Wyoming in 1988. His professional journey was a reflection of his commitment and integrity.
Larry’s passion for the outdoors was a defining feature of his life. He cherished teaching his sons, Jeff, Mark, and Travis, the joys of hunting, fishing, and camping. At age 55 Larry and his boys even summited the Grand Teton together. Annual fishing and hunting trips with friends, were among his treasured activities.
His love for a good meal, making lemon meringue pies, and fun-loving sense of humor made Weaver easy to be around. He had a nickname for everyone and his friends and family always looked forward to his and Nancy’s annual parties in Evergreen, Colorado.
In retirement, Larry and Nancy made the most of their Februarys in Florida, where they welcomed friends and family to enjoy the beach with them. He relished time spent visiting his family and grandchildren and enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Larry’s moral compass and unwavering principles were his greatest legacies, imparted to his sons and extended family. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his sons Jeff, Mark, and Travis, his daughters-in-law Jodi and Jess, his grandchildren William, Hillary, and Kate, and his sister Ann Weaver Schwartz.
The family would like to thank his doctors, nurses, and caregivers for their loving and excellent care through his 18-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
