He was born March 8th, 1933, in Houston, Texas, the second of two children born to Chester Ward Terry and Mildred Frances (Weyrich). He attended high school in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M College in 1956. Bill served in the United States Army and Army Reserve from July 29, 1956 to June 22, 1964. On June 8th, 1956, he was married to Jane F. Daigh (1934-1997), with whom he had five children. Bill worked for the Bank for Cooperatives from 1962 to 1988, and then had his own business Terry Locke Distributing.
Bill coached soccer for his young children, was active in Boy Scouts, and enjoyed woodworking. He traveled extensively and visited all 50 states and most Canadian provinces, as well as locations overseas. He was a long-time and active member of Central Christian Church in Denver, Colorado which he attended from 1972, serving as an Elder, Deacon, Moderator and Member of the Board.
William A. Terry Sr. is survived by his current wife of almost seven years Roxanne Crutcher Terry; and by his sons William A. Terry Jr., Thomas A. Terry, Robert F. Terry and John D. Terry, and his daughter Frances C. Terry, all children of his first wife Jane Daigh.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday July 27th, at Central Christian Church, 3690 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Tennyson Center for Children and to Central Christian Church.
