Wanda recently moved to Dolores, Colorado from Mesa, Az., where she resided for over 40 years. She left many great friends in Arizona to be with family in Colorado. Wanda really enjoyed living in Dolores, and in the short one year she was there, she wasted no time exploring and enjoying as many community activities as one could possibly do! Wanda believed in enjoying life to its fullest!
Wanda was born in Victoria township, in Illinois to Leo Van Dorn Gale and Elaine V. West Gale on November 5, 1939. She is survived by husband Al Bettisworth, son Dan Smith, daughter in-law Robin Smith, grandson Nolan Smith, granddaughter Danielle Smith all of Illinois; daughter Teresa Armstrong, son in-law Greg Armstrong, grandson Dustin Arney, great-grandsons Daniel and Mathew Arney, great-granddaughter Emersynn Noelle K. Arney, all of Colorado. She is also survived by her beloved dog Sassy.
Wanda is also survived by beloved stepson Nate Bettisworth, wife Tiffany, their children Garrett with Savannah, Kaely, and Josh; stepdaughter Erica Bettisworth, with grandchildren Lucas, Colton, Chase, Chandlar, Caige, and great grandchildren Mystic and Ivan. She is survived also by beloved step-grandchildren Christine Arney, Gloria & Jim Larsen, Larry Arney Jr., Debbie and Dave Lee, and LaDonna Arney all of Arizona.
Wanda lived/loved the farm life and co-owned a western and feed store in Illinois, moved to Arizona and became a real estate agent, and then moved to Colorado to enjoy life with family! She and husband Al, known by most as Tork, loved helping to take care of all their grandchildren and they traveled all over the country to be with them!
Wanda was a social butterfly, loved to dance, loved to meet people and never met a stranger. She loved to travel, take their grandchildren to fun places and go on cruises. She grew up in “small town” rural America and has remained friends with those she met when she was 3. She was a long-time member and officer of the Elks, so her friends list was vast. Friends who have reached out, say that they will miss her Wisdom, advice, and laughter. Strangers would come up to her and tell her their whole life story and she would lend an ear and some positivity.
Mom recently said she loves the little town of Dolores and was happy to be back in the country. We will all miss her greatly, and some day we will all be reunited! Until then Mom, rest, enjoy, and know that you are loved deeply!
