WALTER A. WEERS December 24,1921 - September 28, 2017 Walter Alfred Weers was born in Minneapolis, MN on Christmas Eve, 1921. As a young man, Walter moved with his family to Chicago, IL where he and his sisters grew up during the Great Depression. Walter was proud of having served in the Pacific Theater during WWII, where he was wounded just weeks after the end of the war. After his recovery he attended the University of Minnesota where he studied Engineering. He later received his Masters Degree in West Virginia, and a Ph.d from Clemson University in the early 1970's. He started teaching engineering at the University of Colorado in 1954 and also went on to head the Rocky Mountain Water and WasteWater Operators Short Schools for over 50 Years. He was given several awards over the years including one named after him. Walter married Irma Swanson in December of 1954. She passed away in January of 2005. After he retired he became adjutant for his WWII reunion group. He organized the reunions and put out their newsletters for several years. He is survived by his daughters Janet Weers Will and Heidi Weers Hagen, Grandson Brandon Hagen, Nephew Ralph Crump and faithful feline companion Aeris. There will be a memorial service held on Sunday, October 22nd at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church, 1128 Pine St, Boulder, CO 80302.
