The world lost a little bit of its sparkle on March 4, 2025, when Viola M. Medina took her final journey—though if we’re being honest, she probably made a quick pit stop at McDonald’s on the way. A woman of great warmth, unwavering love, and a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Viola lived a life rich in family, laughter, and, of course, a little bit of bingo luck.
Born on January 14, 1929, Viola’s life was a beautiful testament to resilience, devotion, and an appreciation for the simple joys—like a daily drive through Garden of the Gods, a good hand at Cripple Creek, and feeding everyone who walked through her door (whether they were hungry or not). Cooking wasn’t just a hobby for Viola; it was her love language. If you ever left her house without a full stomach, that was entirely your own fault.
She was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Marcos Medina, her parents Antonio and Frances, and her siblings Epifania, Abel, Moses, Ernest, Charlie, and Pete. No doubt they welcomed her with open arms, a deck of cards, and a fresh pot of coffee.
Viola leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Ralph (Gloria) Medina and George (Linda) Medina, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Joann, Danny, and Richard. Her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jasmin, and Candice, will forever carry her wisdom, humor, and maybe just a little of her stubborn streak. She also leaves behind her dear siblings Elias, Antonio, Mary Jane, Corina, and Leontina, who will surely continue to share her stories and keep her spirit alive.
To celebrate Viola’s remarkable life, a funeral service will be held at Pikes Peak National Veterans Cemetery, the day and time will be announced soon. Though she may have left this world, she would want us to remember her not with sadness, but with laughter, love, and perhaps a trip through the McDonald’s drive-thru in her honor.
