Vangie Maria Romero

Vangie, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Vangie lived with a rare mix of quiet strength and joyful curiosity. She found beauty in all things: traveling and dancing with her husband, celebrating life and retirement, exploring new adventures, and the laughter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a deep passion for family and friends and would always make herself available to help whoever needed help. She was the kind of friend who remembered every birthday and the loving and kind of mother who never let you leave without a hug. She was an extraordinary cook whose kitchen was always filled with the comforting aroma of homemade meals and the sweetness of her baked treats. Creativity flowed through everything she touched — from her eloquent home to the way she approached life — and she carried herself with a refined elegance that made her presence unforgettable. Whether she was crafting something beautiful or stepping out in her signature eloquent style, she expressed her love of beauty in every detail. She lived with grace and a warmth that made others feel cherished.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herminia and Felipe Salazar; sisters Sally Dunn and Betha Abeyta; brothers Philip Salazar, Conrad Salazar and Victor Salazar; and great-grandson Aiden Armenta.

She is survived by her husband, Amar J. Romero; daughter Felicia Romero; grandson Adrian Armenta (Brittany Armenta); great-grandsons Decker Armenta and Caden Armenta; grandson Devin Armenta (Katherine Armenta); and great-granddaughter Alya Armenta. Daughter Alice (Romero) Boettcher (Doug Boettcher); grandsons Douglas Jr. Boettcher (Taylor Boettcher); great-grandson Brax Boettcher; grandson Dillion Boettcher. Her husband and children will remember her for the way she loved unconditionally and deeply. She leaves behind a standard of elegance that wasn’t just seen in how she dressed, but in how she carried herself through life: with poise, kindness, and a deep appreciation of family and for the world’s small wonders. Those who knew her will forever remember her refined presence, her creative spirit, and the way she made every person feel cherished. Her influence continues in the love she gave so generously.

The recitation of the rosary will be held at 9:30 am on August 21, 2026, with funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 790 26 1/2 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado 81506. A luncheon will follow mass at 11:00 am.
