Thomas "Tom" Boyd, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on July 26, 2023, in Pueblo, Colorado, at the age of 64. Born on October 3, 1958, in Ventura, California, Tom was the kindest and gentlest soul, always ready to lend an ear and share his gift of gab with those around him.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was predeceased by his parents Bill & Mary Lorraine Boyd, and his nephew Nathan Boyd.
He is survived by his wife, Deena Boyd, his children, daughter Jennifer Richman, and her brother Chris Miller, and son Michael Boyd, and his sister Melody Labounty, as well as stepdaughters Alethia Alvarado and Heather Turner. Tom will also be deeply missed by his sister, Judie Jensen, his brother Steve Boyd and his wife Shelley, his sister Deb Huber, and his cousin David O'Connor and his wife Sandra. Additionally, Tom leaves behind four granddaughters, and many nieces, and nephews, all of whom he held dear to his heart.
Tom attended Anacapa Junior High, later graduated from Buena High School, and attended Ventura College.
Throughout his life, Tom made a significant impact in his community. He dedicated twenty years of service to the Ventura County Fairgrounds, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. Tom's love for music was evident in his work as the door man at Café Voltaire and Zoey's Café in Ventura, and his lifelong pursuits as an entertainer, stilt walker, musician, singer, and songwriter. He loved to entertain people on the street in Pueblo with his unusual instruments, such as Marxophone and Ukelin, as well as guitar and mandolin. His talent and passion resonated with those fortunate enough to hear his heartfelt melodies.
Tom's departure leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him. His warm smile, entertaining stories, and compassionate nature, will be deeply missed. While we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the love he shared with all who knew him.
Two private ceremonies will be held to honor Tom's life, where family and close friends will gather to pay their respects. His ashes will be scattered among his beloved redwoods in northern California.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a music education program or food bank in Tom's memory.
May Tom's soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire kindness, love, and the joy of music in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
