Sylvia Patricia Schlanger, affectionately known as “Gaga” was born on June 25, 1938 in Glendo, Wyoming to the late James and Florence Hughes. She passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 86.
Pat is survived by her children: Michael Schlanger; Timothy Schlanger (Sam); Patrick Schlanger (Geraldine); and Jackie Dishmon (Miles). She was a loving grandma to Matthew (Aly), Emily (Andrew), Sarah, Jonathon (Melissa); Adam (Katie), Aubrey (Brent); and Zachery Michael (deceased).
She was also a cherished great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, John Schlanger, her brother Harvey Hughes and her sister Lorraine Lockhart.
After graduating from Glendo High School, Pat attended secretarial school in Lincoln, Nebraska. Upon graduation, she began working at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. It was in Washington where she met her soulmate, John Schlanger. They married and eventually settled in Denver, Colorado, where Pat dedicated herself to being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
Pat was renowned for her exceptional cooking skills and her kind, generous spirit. She had an infectious smile and a joy for life that touched everyone she met. She enjoyed dancing and spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.
A devout Catholic, Pat lived her faith through her actions, always embodying the Golden Rule and passing down these values to her family. Her unwavering kindness and non-judgmental nature were a testament to her deep faith and love for others.
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6853 S. Prince Street, Littleton, Colorado 80120 on Friday, February 28, 2025. Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m. (reception to follow).
