Sharon Mott was born on October 14, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Glen and Marcella Dunlavey and grew up in Jackson, Minnesota with her three younger brothers. The Dunlavey family moved to San Diego, California when she was in elementary school, and there Sharon made lifelong friends and met her husband and the father of her two daughters, Tina and Tara.
Sharon worked hard from her very first job at the Union-Tribune, at her lifelong career with AT&T that brought her and her family to Colorado, and finally at La-Z-Boy where she retired with more friendships made.
Sharon had a great love for reading and for spending time with family and friends - whether playing cards, taking a trip to the lake, or going to the casino to win big together. Even with her loved ones spread across the country, Sharon never missed an opportunity to send a Christmas gift or give someone a call to see how they were doing. She was a stalwart woman who raised her two daughters as a single mother in a less forgiving time, and always remained a pillar for every generation of her family.
Sharon passed away on February 4th, 2023, in the home she loved and was so proud to own in Arvada, Colorado.
She is survived by her daughter Tina, two granddaughters, Haley and Paige, and two great grandchildren, MaryLynn and Eric. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcy and Glen, her brother Robert, her daughter Tara, and her granddaughter Alyssa.
Sharon’s strength and compassion live on through those she loved. We are but parts of those who came before us, and as long as those things stay with us, Sharon will never be gone.
