Roy Bernshausen (85) of Westminster Colorado passed away January 8, 2019. He is proceeded in death by his wife Alice (Slack), his parents Albert and Esther (Klawitter) Bernshausen of Brenham Texas, and sister Estelle Dickens of Dallas Texas.
He is survived by his brother Ben (Francis) of Houston Texas, sister JoAnn (Don) Truelock of Grand Prairie Texas; his children: Edward (Tammy) of Minden Nebraska, Michael of Westminster Colorado, John of Carrollton Texas, Cynthia (Mark) Talarico of Minden Nebraska, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Roy was born in Rosenberg Texas and attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham Texas before being drafted into the Army in 1954. After his tour of duty he attended Colorado School of Mines, where he met Alice. They were married on December 23, 1956 in Golden Colorado. They made their life long home in Westminster Colorado. Roy was a volunteer firefighter for the city of Westminster, a member of BPOE Elks, Lions Club International and the VFW. He was very active with the local school district and Ranum High School while his children were growing up. He served the community of Federal heights and surrounding areas with his automotive repair shop for over 50 years.
He loved to work in his flower garden. His roses were his prize. In the winter he would spend many an hour next to his beloved fireplace.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19th at the Northglenn Christian Church, 1800 E 105th Pl, Northglenn Colorado from 1pm to 3pm. He will be interred at the Minden Prairie Cemetery at a later date
