I think that the best of who we have become in this life is released into a great life force that surrounds us all. I'm missing you a lot these days Dad but I hear you in my laugh and I see you in the mirror everyday. I spent some time with Paula awhile back and during a lunch out she reached over and took my hand and whispered that sitting with me was just like being with you. What a blessing that someone so close to you in life would say such a kind thing. If I can carry on that infectious laugh and that helpful spirit, I will be happy. I feel you near if only in my heart. The word love does not do justice to the burning embers your presents has left behind.

What can I say about this man? By the time I met him (and became one of his caregivers) his dementia had progressed to a level that affected his ability to carry a conversation for very long. However, he had not declined so much that he could not share and hear truths about the things that mattered most in life ... the things that mattered in his life.  I did not need to know Ron prior to his dementia to know that this was one of the best men I had ever met. To be near him meant, for me, strength, and peace. Many of us never grasp (even when close to death) how important it is to 1) reflect on life and then 2) look for joy in it's remaining moments. Ron understood this.  Words that come to mind in my interactions with Ron: gracious, caring, visionary, humorous, empathetic, leader, father.  I am beyond honored (and humbled) to have been able to be even a small part of Ron's life.

Generate love and compassion for all living beings like my father did and you will be blessed..

Dad we lived and laughed together. You kept me safe and warm in bad times and shared your good fortune in good times. I am your son and I am proud to bare your name. I try everyday to measure up to who you were in life. Your shadow is my cloak. Until we meet again old man.

Thank you Ron for always those great words of encouragement when much needed. Your rare heart filled with much love to share,lives  now on in those you loved and loved you. Live again eternally in love with Gj always.

I remember Ron from the time I was around 12 because Kim and I were best friends. He was always so happy and nice to me. He was such a handsome man!! He seemed to always be smiling and always asked how I was. I'm sure he will be missed by all those who loved him!!

Dear Ron,
From the time I met you through your final years on this earth, you were a dear 'older brother' to me for around 40 years. More than a brother-in-law, you were always there as a dear friend, advisor, and best relative I never had in my family. 
Your laughter rings out often in my memory. I recall endless sweaty days of hard, fulfilling, creative yard work together with GJ in Fallbrook when I'd make the long drive to visit. The two of you were inseparable as you endeavored to create a small island of paradise in that yard and tiny house. I marveled at your skill with plants, wood crafts, plumbing, electrical and almost anything to do with house and yard. Most of all, your skill with people stood out.
Fond memories emerge as I recall you came to my new house in Camino, around 1986, to remodel the kitchen. It was such hard work. One night we awoke, startled by screaming. You bolted into the hall asking if I'd had a night mare. Hershel dog and all the rest in the neighborhood were barking. Oh, what laughter and surprise when I said, 'no, it's a mountain lion'! 
You loved the foothills and mountains. 
You dreamed of moving to Montana. Well, Colorado was close.
You loved family gatherings. GJ always honored you to prepare feasts for many guests on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and countless others. You always prepared the meat dish, nursing it in the oven or rotisserie all day. Then you carved it up like a surgeon. Your heart was grateful, and you always blessed the food before it disappeared all too quickly. 
Like other dear ones, you have disappeared from this planet all too quickly. We spoke of meeting 'on the other side'. Thanks to God for you and the love you shared. 
Let it be so.

Dear Grandpa,
You left this world better than anyone...surrounded in love without pain, in warmth and knowing that you led a decent life as a good man. You will always and forever be in my heart. I cherish the memories we shared so much that my only regret was to have not made more of them. I wish i could have learned from you all the knowldge and skill you had acquired in your talented life. I wish i knew about your childhood. about your parents and grandparents. I wish we didn't spend so much time apart. I thank God for the time we had together. I am happy you met my wife and son. I am happy you are building with the angels surrounded by the loved ones of your life.

Daddy,

I see you in the wind through the trees. I hear you in the birds sweet songs. I imagine you riding horses in the warmth of the day. Your heart is my heart. I will carry you with me always. Thank you for the profound and healing experience. I love you more.

Grandpa,

You have served as an inspiration and a source of wonderment to me my entire life. You were a world class craftsman / woodworker and great artist in your own right. Thank you for all the love, influence and encouragement Grandpa. I have nothing but fond memories... As a child I always looked forward to visiting your tasteful home that always seemed to have some touch of magic to it, with it's incredible works of art, artifacts, musical instruments and the jungle back yard where I spent countless afternoons of my childhood exploring. I remember you were always building something and would work with my Dad and I'd tag along and you would give me a hammer, nails and a pile of wood scraps to keep me occupied and I'd build little airplanes,boats and miniature houses. I remember feeding General Sherman, our tortoise that was surely 100+ years old and play the guitars that were lying around. I have fond memories discussing our Native American roots and your long list of interests and hobbies through which I discovered I took after you in many ways (travel, art, music, surfing, nature, etc) . I'm so glad we continued to visit each other in these past recent years Grandpa. Many of your character qualities and virtues continue to guide me and are present in the friends that I keep close. Travel peacefully and with love into that great unknown Grandpa. Thank you for everything, I love you so, I hope I get to see you again.
