With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald Arthur Johnson on December 14, 2024, at his home in Lakewood, Colorado. Surrounded by family, Ron departed this life at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of love.
Ron’s life was a testament to his gentle spirit, infectious laughter, adventurous nature, and deep appreciation for music. His kind heart and ever-present smile brought light to those fortunate enough to know him.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Darlene Rose Johnson; his daughter, Valarie Rose Johnson; son-in-law, Terrence Patrick Murray; sister, Eileen Marie Widmer; and grandchildren, Natacia Rose Basiura and her fiancé, Caleb Dean Johnson; Juan Carlos Arthur Moore; Shannon Thomas Murray; and so many extended family members and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, Eben Arthur Johnson and Stella Susan Johnson; infant sister, Annabelle May Johnson; parents-in-law, Escal Maxfield Baker and Rose Emma Baker; and his beloved son, Phillip Arthur Johnson.
Born on July 12, 1936, in Denver, Colorado, to Eben and Stella Johnson, Ron’s early years were marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to service. After graduating from North High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, proudly serving his country. Upon completing his military service, Ron pursued his passion for leadership and entertainment as a manager at the Paramount Theater and South Drive-In.
Eager to expand his skills, Ron attended Electrical Apprenticeship School, earning certification as an electrician and becoming a dedicated and proud union member of Local 68. His career flourished in the electrical field, where his leadership abilities and steadfast integrity led to numerous managerial roles.
Ron and his cherished wife, Darlene, built a life of love and adventure, raising two children, Valarie and Phillip. As a father, Ron embodied patience, encouragement, and gentle guidance, fostering an environment where dreams were nurtured, and passions thrived.
A man of faith, integrity, and wisdom, Ron’s greatest joys were rooted in his love for family, nature, animals, music, elk hunting, and the Denver Broncos. His life was one of service, as he devoted his time and energy to community roles, including serving as president of his Homeowners Association and president of the local Ostomy Association.
A funeral will be held on January 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging area C, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Dancing Willows Clubhouse, 11893 W. Long Circle, Littleton, CO 80127. Chaplain Andrew VanArsdel will officiate the ceremony at Ft. Logan, and Dr. Reverend Michelle Medrano will preside over the Celebration of Life. All who knew and loved Ron are invited to honor his remarkable life.
