Bob was a 1957 graduate of East High School where he excelled in art and participated in gymnastics. He enlisted in the Navy and succeeded in becoming a Navy Photographer stationed in San Diego.
His working life had several segments. As a teenager he worked on a dude ranch and drove a supply bus over Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. After he was honorably discharged from the navy, he became a photographer for a company making movies for the US National Park System. He continued his career working for Ball Brothers Research, photographing the construction of the OSO satellite. Later on, he helped construct topographical models, also for the national parks; one of which is still on display in Rocky Mountain NP.
For many years, Bob owned his own company, creating custom laminated plaques for individuals and groups such as the Denver Broncos. For 20 years he also drove a school bus for Jefferson County Public Schools. For most of that time, he drove developmentally disabled clients, creating a fun and compassionate atmosphere on his bus. After he retired, he indulged his love of driving by shuffling cars for Enterprise Rentals.
Bob used his love of photography to express his artistic talent, not only in an industrial setting, but in nature, with awesome pictures of mountains, oceans, canyons, and aspen. He was an accomplished guitar and banjo player, expressing his love of music, especially folk and bluegrass.
Beginning as a Cub Scout, Bob was actively involved in Scouting for over 75 years. He was a Life Scout, Sea Scout, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Chartered Organization Representative, earned his Wood Badge, served in district capacities and was honored with the Silver Beaver Award.
His interests included his love of fly fishing on many family camping trips, square dancing, singing in his church choir, road trips and working with his hands.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert W. Shaw and Mary (Wallace) Shaw.
He is survived by his sister Shirley Currie, wife of 57 years Mary Jo, daughter Christy Flack and her husband Brian, granddaughter Kaitlyn, nieces, nephews and cousins.
