Richard D. Eckerman, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Highlands Ranch, CO, surrounded by family, on October 19, 2026. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Harold D and Ruth (Cavanagh) Eckerman. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After his military service, Mr Eckerman was employed for almost 40 years at Moog Inc., where he held a variety of positions, including contract administrator.
An avid golfer and aviation enthusiast, he spent many happy hours on the Links Golf Course in Highlands Ranch, where he relocated from Buffalo, NY in 2016. His loyalty to Buffalo sports teams never wavered, however, and he was rarely seen on fall weekends without something Buffalo Bills-branded. His Bills slippers were a familiar sight at his many doctor's appointments in his later years. He devoted decades of his time to supporting fellow members of Alcoholics Anonymous groups in New York and Colorado.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara (Pawlak); his children, Marge and Paul (Anita) Eckerman; his grandchildren, Nathan (Adrianna), Alek, and Robin Tutchton, Brendan Eckerman, and Hannah Eckerman; his great-grandson, Atlas; and his brother David Eckerman, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his dear twin sister Judy. His work ethic, sense of humor, and dedication to family will be sorely missed by all who loved him. Interment will take place at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in honor of his military service.
