

He was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado and was a graduate of Centennial High School. He joined The U.S. Marine Corps and served in combat in the Vietnam War earning two Purple Heart Medals, a National Defense Medal, and a Vietnam Campaine Medal. After he was honorably discharged, he attended Arapahoe Community College, then transferred to the University Of Colorado and graduated with a degree in Sociology. He then began his career at IBM in Boulder Colorado, had a house built in Louisville where he raised his family. He retired after 20 years and became the best Grandpa, a fly fisherman, a painter, a writer, a self taught guitarist, an avid lover of books of world history and the ancestry of our family name, Romero.
Pete is survived by the love of his life, Joan Romero. His Children; Jodi Romero, Gerald Romero, and Felicia & Rob Scott. His Grandchildren; Kaila & Andrew Townson, Alex Blazon, Michelyn Romero, Sophia & Richard III Meisinger, Jerald Romero & Destiny Johnstone, Casie Pace, and Letisha Gurule. Great Grandchildren; Jacob Romero, Abram Johnstone, Noah Romero, Josie Blazon, Kaleo Mitchell, Ashley Berry, and soon to arrive in January baby Richard Meisinger IV. His Sisters; Marty LeFebre, Ida Archuletta, and Patsy Romero. Also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Manual & Dorothy Romero. Sisters; Marie Lucero, and Linda Roybal. Brothers; Donald Romero, Manuel Romero, Armando Romero, and by his beloved granddaughter Savannah Romero. Also by his brothers from another mother, Jimmy Roybal, Dennis Roybal, Joe Roybal and Ernie Paul Roybal. And of course by his loyal pooches, Mickey, Oscar, Buba, his sweet baby girl Nala (Nalita), and grand-doggie Oso.
Services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd. Denver CO 80236. On Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 11:00am. Followed by a celebration of life at Walter Rhoads American Legion Post 111, 1150 Pine Street Louisville, CO 80027 at 3:00pm.
