January 20, 1940 – January 9, 2022
Orval Wick, or “Orv” as most knew him, was born on January 20, 1940 in Seattle, WA. He joined the Army Reserve (while still a Junior at Ballard High School) and went off for basic and specialty training right after high school graduation. He worked at the old Seattle Plywood Mill for half a year and then entered the University of Washington School of Engineering in 1959. Recruited by Uncle Sam after graduating from the UW, Orv headed east to the “other Washington (DC)” and supported the Federal Government as a Network Engineer, Program Manager, and Administrator from 1963 to 1993.
Orv married Virginia (“Nia”), a Boston girl, in 1966. Together they have two sons, Kurt and Ken. Orv and Nia had the good fortune to travel fairly extensively for both business and leisure.
Orv led a full life, had a fantastic and important career, had great friends and colleagues, and a loving family. He is survived by his wife, Nia, and his sons, Kurt and Ken, daughter-in-law Ginger, and 2 grandsons, Aiden and Porter.
He will be missed.
