Nate is survived by his wife Donna (Foulk) Frohman, daughters Patricia “Pat” (Mel) Kirk, Margaret “Peggy” (Ned) Nagle, grandchildren Amy (Chris) Kirk-Siron, Stephen Kirk, Peter Nagle, and great grandchild Evelyn Kirk-Siron; siblings Edelyne (Don) Coleman, Enneth Frohman and Roderic (Marcia) Frohman and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Natalie Ottoson and grandson Andrew Nagle.
Nate began his career as a dairy chemist, but, before long, his engaging personality led him into the world of sales, in screen printing supplies and in kitchen cabinets. He was a true sales manager, inspiring his salespeople to greater results than they thought possible. He ended his career as sales manager for Riviera Cabinets in Colorado Springs.
Nate was a PK (Preacher’s Kid) and lived in Nebraska, Texas, Eaton Colorado and Pennsylvania while growing up. He came to Colorado to attend CSU in 1947, where he met Donna Foulk on a ski date to Hidden Valley. In 1952, Nate was stationed at Marana AFB outside of Tucson, AZ after his ROTC training at CSU. It is here that Nate and Donna were married. They have enjoyed a wonderful partnership for 66 years.
Outside of work, Nate was in constant motion. He enjoyed many years with Donna and the family in their mountain cabin in Placer Valley near Alma, CO, where he kept active as a fisherman, a woodworker, a gold prospector and panner, and even a stint as “de Ole Prospector” – a columnist for the Fairplay Flume newspaper. Nate and Donna also enjoyed their travels all around the world, going to places including Sweden, England, China, Mexico, Costa Rica and many more destinations. They took their comfy fifth wheeler to many places around North America, too, including caravans to follow the Lewis & Clark trail and to Mexico. It also served as their retirement home for a period of time, in the Tip O’ Texas and in Yuma, AZ.
Nate was a lifelong volunteer at all the churches that he and Donna attended, and volunteered at other functions, too, most recently as a member of the Littleton Lions Club. Nate had a saying that went, “Preach the Gospel everyday and if necessary, use words.” Yes, he was a Christian by his actions.
We will always remember Nate for his happy and enthusiastic embrace of life, for the twinkle in his eye, his ready smile, and his two-handed handshake. He will be missed by all.
Internment will take place next spring, when the snow leaves Buckskin Cemetery, near Alma, Colorado.
