Mark Alan Bouzek

Mark Alan Bouzek, 65, passed away on September 9, 2024 in Boulder, Colorado. A dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather, philanthropist, and community activist, he was generous to all with his time, energy, and contributions.

Born in 1959 to Lester and Rosalyn Bouzek, Mark grew up across the Midwest alongside his three brothers, but loved his home in Minnesota the most. He was a star baseball player, aspiring concert promoter, and found his love of computers at a young age.

After graduating from Saint Louis University, Mark moved to Houston to begin his career and his family. Over nearly 30 years at Shell, Mark rose to the level of Chief Information Officer. He continued his career as Vice President of IT Operations at BP, shepherding the company through challenging times before retiring in 2015. Since retirement, he participated in multiple opportunities to coach companies and executives to their full potential, most recently serving as the Non-Executive Director at Innovapptive.

Though he achieved great success in business, his work experience was far from the only thing that defined Mark’s life. He loved his wife of two decades, Deborah Parks, and treasured their retired life together in their dream home in the mountains. He was forever devoted to his three kids, Sarah, Kaitlin and Alan, who represent the very best parts of him. He adored doting on his two beloved grandbabies, Olivia and Jackson.

A lifelong “Deadhead,” Mark passed his passion for live music to each of his children. An avid hiker, cross-country motorcyclist, winter sports enthusiast, voracious traveler, and concert connoisseur, Mark made every effort to experience the best life had to offer with his family and friends – whether that was seeing the world with Deb, catching shows with Kaitlin, chasing powder with Alan, or summiting 14ers with Sarah. He left a lasting impact on others through his volunteer work and cherished community initiatives spearheaded by the YWCA, Ignite Adaptive Sports, and the Innovation Center of St. Vrain.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Bouzek. He is survived by his father, Lester; brothers, Michael, Matthew and John; wife, Deb Parks; daughters, Sarah Luft (Ross) and Kaitlin, son Alan (Hannah); and grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson Luft.

The family will not be holding formal services.
