The world lost a little of its flavor when Marion Morales, originally of Michigan, passed away peacefully the day after her 93rd birthday. Marion was a force of nature: strong, funny, and caring to the core — a woman who could be stern enough to keep you in line, but just as quick to forgive (and feed you).
An accomplished homemaker and legendary cook, Marion was known for her love of canning, knitting, animals, traveling, and laughter. She didn’t just make meals — she made memories, often with jars of her famous fruits and vegetables. Her Kosher dill pickles were good enough to snag 2nd place at the Los Angeles County Fair, though in her family’s hearts they were always blue-ribbon-worthy.
The youngest of 12 siblings — all of whom she now joins in heaven — Marion grew up in a big, noisy, loving family that prepared her perfectly for a lifetime of taking care of others. She held no formal certificate or title, yet she was the kind of woman who earned the right to be called strong, loving, and dedicated. Her greatest achievements weren’t trophies or degrees, but the way she persevered in caring for her beloved husband, grandchildren, and anyone lucky enough to know her.
Marion could knit a scarf as easily as she could knit a family together. She had a soft spot for animals, a suitcase always ready for the next adventure, and a laugh that could lighten any room.
She is preceded in death by her son Danny and all 11 of her siblings. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lee Morales; her children Judy Harris, David Harris, Robert Church, and Greg Church; five cherished stepchildren; and more grandchildren and great-grandchildren than she could keep track of — though she sure tried.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those she missed, probably showing heaven how to properly can a peach. They will miss her stern guidance, forgiving heart, and unmatched love — and they promise to always laugh, travel, and maybe even knit a little, in her honor.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St., Longmont, CO 80501. Private interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
