Marilyn Milburn Asbridge, 92, of Castle Pines, Colorado passed away on January 20, 2025. Born September 26, 1932, in Great Falls, Montana, Marilyn was the daughter of George and Dorothy Milburn. She is survived by her five children, Debbie, Karen, Mary, Gary, and Joe, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Marilyn grew up on a remote ranch in Montana. Her formative years were full of ranch chores, raising animals as a member of Future Farmers of America, and becoming a proficient horsewoman. In 1950, after graduating from Fergus High School in Lewistown, Montana, Marilyn attended Montana State College, earning a degree in physical education. In college Marilyn met Jack, beginning a lifelong love affair lasting over 70 years.
After their marriage in 1954, Marilyn and Jack moved to Bethlehem, PA where Jack completed his post-graduate education. In 1959, the family moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico where they lived for over 30 years. In the late 1970’s Marilyn began working at Los Alamos High School as an aide, and later as the Registrar. Upon retirement in 1991, Marilyn and Jack relocated near Chama, New Mexico, and 20 years later they resettled in Colorado.
Helping others was a cornerstone of Marilyn’s life. She was involved in several community organizations, such as the PTA. Marilyn was a lifelong Girl Scout, and as an adult she held local, regional and national positions, including serving as President of the Sangre de Cristo Girl Scout Council. Throughout retirement Marilyn continued to volunteer, most notably at the Laguna Vista and Castle Rock Senior Centers.
Marilyn touched many lives over the course of her own, and her love, kindness and support made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Grange in Castle Rock, Colorado on June 14, 2025. Marilyn will be interred next to Jack at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marilyn’s name to one of the following organizations:
