Marcia “Marci” Lynn (Ekberg) Dreiling, 64, of Fort Collins, CO passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 30, 1960, in Wray, CO; the daughter of Norman “Kay” and Eloise Mary (O’Brien) Ekberg.
In May 1964, tragedy struck the Ekberg family. Marci’s mother, Eloise, was killed by a horse. The Ekberg family remained on the family farm. A second tragedy struck the family when Marci, age 7, fell out of the farm truck and was run over. They were out in the country, where no help was available. Fortunately, a hunter came out of the field and went to the nearby farmhouse to call for an ambulance. No one knew who this man was, and the family had never seen him again. The family always referred to him as Marci’s Angel. Marci was hospitalized for several days, and her daddy never left her side.
In the early 1970’s, the family moved to Atwood. Marci attended school in Sterling. She went on to work at Miller Western Wear. Marci was naturally gifted at sewing. She learned a lot of her skills from her Grandma Ekberg.
In 1985, Marci was blessed with a loving son, Doyle Don. She and Doyle moved to Fort Collins in 1988. Marci was employed at convenience stores for several years. Marci eventually went on to manage her own store.
In 1997, Marci met the love of her life, Tony Dreiling, and they married four years later. Tony taught her Cable TV Splicing. She became the only female splicer in Colorado. Marci had to prove herself on every job because that was considered a man’s job! It wasn’t long until corporate came to Marci to improve their equipment. Marci was actively involved in upgrading CATV systems for the state. In 2010, the couple moved to the mountains where they managed all the CATV construction west of the Eisenhower Tunnel. After 10 years, Marci and Tony returned to their home in Fort Collins to enjoy retirement. They worked together remodeling their home and enjoyed spending time together working in their yard.
Marci enjoyed riding her 1950 Panhead. She loved water skiing and spending time on the lake in their boat. In winter, the Broncos were her joy! Marci was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, hummingbirds and making a feast on holidays! She Loved her Lord and family very much.
