Linda Ann (Waite) Owsiany of Parker, Colorado passed away peacefully in her sleep with her beloved husband at her side on December 12, 2024 at the age of 77. Up until the end, Linda maintained a zest for life, dedication to her family and friends, and a love of travel and adventure, and always expressed love for those who meant the most to her.
Linda was born on January 31, 1947 in Oakland, California to Hugh and Helen (Wilson) Waite. She was the second oldest of four children, with one brother and two sisters. Her family enjoyed camping each summer in Pine Crest or the Russian River, spending holidays with nearby family, and socializing with friends. She graduated from Oakland High School in 1964 where she was active in her sorority and recently attended her 60-year class reunion.
Linda was a loving wife, mom, Grammie, sister, aunt, and friend. She was fiercely loyal to her family and loved her special moments with each and every member. She met her future husband, Michael Owsiany at work in Denver, Colorado and they went on to raise three children, Sonja Owsiany and Alison Owsiany of Parker, Colorado, and Jessica (Owsiany) Fant of Crownsville, Maryland. Linda was delighted to become “Grammie” with the addition of Michael Bitrolff, Alina Fant, and Lilly Fant and she adored her grandchildren and was an important part of their lives. She made it a point to be as engaged as possible with her grandchildren. From babysitting, to attending birthday parties and school activities, to traveling for sporting events, Linda delighted in her grandchildren.
Linda cherished her many friendships, maintaining many from the time she was growing up in Oakland. At the time of her passing, Linda was active in her local Silver Sneakers group. She was always quick to help people and be an ear for those who needed it. She was happiest when she was giving – to her family and friends. Nothing about Linda was selfish, and she always showed kindness and compassion to everyone she met.
She enjoyed her time in the workforce and some of her fondest times were the 20 years she spent in the Special Education Department at Ponderosa High School. Linda was proud to achieve an Apple Award for her outstanding service at Douglas County Schools.
Linda always knew how to have a good time and loved the water and enjoyed any moment she could on a beach, in a pool, or in a boat just enjoying the view, sun, and breeze. She loved games, jokes, and tomfoolery and her laugh was infectious. She looked forward to her family’s bi-annual trip to Grand Teton National Park with extended family and friends, and was always ready for an adventure. She loved boating, hiking, sitting by the lake, and telling stories around the campfire. Beyond the Tetons, Linda was well-traveled and was equally excited to visit family across the US, tour museums, take off to Europe, and go one a road trip. She also loved quiet days at home puttering in her garden and making sure everything was just so. Planting her flowers and putting out her lawn decorations gave her great joy and her yard always welcomed the many visitors who stopped by.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Waite. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Michael Owsiany, as well as her children Sonja Owsiany (Rob Mayoros), Alison Owsiany (Larry Navarette), and Jessica Fant (Peter Fant), her three grandchildren, Michael Bittrolff, Alina Fant, and Lilly Fant, along with her sisters Christine Oakley of Bellevue, Washington and Laurie Scheer (Gary Scheer) of Littleton, Colorado. She is also survived by her six nieces, two nephews, and 13 great-nieces and nephews, and her dog, Jada.
