It is with deep sorrow and abundant love that we mourn the passing of Linda Glaza. Linda was a resident of the Gardens at Viewpointe, which was located in her beloved neighborhood of Rockrimmon where she resided for more than 40 years. She left this world peacefully on the morning of January 4, 2025, after a brief battle with dementia.
Linda was born August 5, 1939, in the little Indiana farm town of Fairmount, where she spent most of her childhood on the family farm. She eventually moved to Denver, Colorado with her mother, where she graduated from Aurora High School. She married Air Force Academy graduate Jim Glaza in 1960, and became a hardworking, successful air force wife, and mother of 5 wonderful children!
As challenging as it was raising 4 boys and 1 girl, being very involved with their constant activities, and moving every few years for the air force, Linda had a rewarding career as well. She was a monumental Hostess throughout the years for a multitude of family, friends, and air force cadets! She spent quite a few years working for the Association of Graduates at the Air Force Academy, and truly loved helping tp plan and execute reunions for all the various graduating classes. She was made an honorary member of the class of 1960, and was very proud of that fact! Linda also spent some time working at the Hungary Farmer Restaurant as a hostess and cocktail waitress. She enjoyed that job tremendously! She spent the last years of her career at Western Forge in a secretial/accounting capacity, and ultimately retired from the workforce from there. She was loved, admired, and respected by all the friends she worked with throughout her years in the air force and beyond!
Linda Loved to travel and was able to do quite a bit of it over the years, from Florida to Austria! She also loved singing, dancing, and playing the piano, and enjoyed entertaining others. Her last hobby was cross stitching custom baby quilts, which she made for many babies in and out of the family, for many years!
Linda was a devoted, loving, and giving grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, and was instrumental in helping raise them. She never missed an event, concert, sports game- or anything the kids were involved in! she was also a wonderful caregiver to them whenever needed. She was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to hold her new great grandson a few times before her passing.
Linda was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Herbert and Dorothy Ricks, her mother and stepfather, Ruth and Rudy Kennedy, and her brother David Ricks.
Linda is survived by her ex-husband James Glaza (Jeanette); her 5 children Steve, Doug, Ed, Shari (Jody), and Matt (Roxanne); her 3 grandchildren Jory and Jana (Lakota), and Jordan; and her great grandson Dallas (Jana and Lakota).
Special thanks to the staff at Viewpointe (especially Shannon), Abode Hospice (especially Amanda), the caregivers at Gentle Shepard, and the Neptune Society for handling her final arrangements.
Linda’s farewell and celebration of life services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Swan Law Funeral Home (501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903). There will be a light reception following the service at the same location.
