Lawrence Strite Burt

1918-2019

Longtime Broomfield resident Lawrence Burt passed away on July 4, 2019 at the age of 101.

Larry was born in Boulder Canyon at the power plant his father ran. He lived his entire live in the Boulder-Denver area.

In 1947 Larry married the former Betty France of Eads, CO. Larry moved his family to Broomfield in December of 1958. He spent 42 years as a mechanical engineer for Public Service Co. (now Xcel Energy). Larry’s long time hobby was building and playing pipe organs. He built the original pipe organ and for 50 years was the church organist at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Broomfield.

His wife Betty preceded him in death in 2005. Larry is survived by son James Burt of Durango, CO., son David Burt of Broomfield, CO., grandson Eric Burt of Raleigh, NC and granddaughter Laura of Boulder. Also, nieces Bunny Dohn, of State College, PA., and Susan Collins of Charlottesville, VA.
