Survived by his Wife, Rosemary Wood, Daughter, Regina D. Schmotzer (Wood), Son-in-law, Doug Schmotzer, Grand-daughters Kylie Schmotzer and Kasey Schmotzer, and his brother Gerald D. Wood.
John was a World War II Veteran and proud Marine,
After graduating from UNC, he began a 37 year teaching career in the Denver Public Schools. His hobbies included art, camping, fishing, sports cars and a love of animals.
John had a keen sense of humor and knew no strangers. He never gave up, even at the end.
Graveside services will be held Friday March 8, 2019 at 9:30am at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
