He grew up in the University Park neighborhood of Denver, CO and attended the neighborhood schools. After school, he discovered he really enjoyed the hospitality business. He earned a degree in Hospitality Management from Denver Institute of Technology. His career took him to Wyoming, Nebraska, and Kansas before returning to Denver in 2002. It made him happy to see people sit down to a good meal. He wanted to make sure they had the best dining experience. He enjoyed times when he could fill in for a chef when they were short of staff. His strength was front of house where he could mingle with the diners.
Jody enjoyed being in Boy Scout Troop 5 when he was young. He gained a deep love and appreciation for camping, backpacking, and nature. A favorite camping destination for Jody was in the Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming.
His family wants to thank Sky Ridge Medical Center where he spent his last days. They took very good care of him and his family.
Jody is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Jack (Central City), Jim (Denver), Joyce (Duluth, MN), Jerry (Nederland, TX), and Juliette (Denver). He will be deeply missed by 6 nephews and 2 nieces, as well as one great-nephew and four great-nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Grace Hidahl, and his nephew, Nicholas Hidahl.
It was Jody’s wish that his remains be scattered in a place that was special to him. The family had a private celebration of life on August 6, 2023.
