Joan Adrianne Kigerl

Joan A. Kigerl, a resident of Highlands Ranch, CO, passed away peacefully on January 21 after bravely battling cancer. Born on December 14, 1943, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Joan grew up in Lake Charles, attending Lagrange High School before graduating from Lake Charles Business School. It was in Lake Charles where she met Robert Kigerl, the love of her life. They married in Texas on New Year’s Eve in 1963.

During Robert’s military career, the family lived in different locations such as Germany, Texas, New York, and Florida, raising their son, David. Joan worked with the Army Air Force Exchange Service and Farmers Insurance, and she dedicated her time to travel, crocheting, reading, and cooking for her family.

Joan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind her husband, Robert; her son, David, and daughter-in-law, Sandra, of Panama City, Florida; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Catherine Albrecht of Dalhart, TX, and her brother, Gaston Ronald Bourque of Lake Charles, LA.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Viola L. Leger and Gaston Bourque.
