He was born in Overbrook, Oklahoma on January 26, 1935 to Maude Winifred Sharp and Edgar Eugene Holt. Sonny resided in the Denver area for 60 years, where he owned and operated a number of detective and auto recovery agencies through that time.
Since his retirement, Sonny became dedicated to service to his community. He found great joy as a member of Northglenn’s Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAAN), which provides support and logistical assistance to the Northglenn Police Department. He was named the Northglenn Police Department ‘Volunteer of the Year’ in 2014.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joyce and an infant sister, Mary Francis.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Priscilla (“Joe”) Dunn; two sisters: Betty Sue McMullin (Richmond, VA) and June Holt (Orlando FL); his brother, Gary Don Holt (Denver); five children: Donna Joyce Atcherson and Nancy (Wayne) Cook (Houston, TX), Randy (Lori) and Brett (Brandy) Holt (Elgin, IL), Ron (Sandi) Holt (Placentia, CA), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Monday, February 4 at the Northglenn Senior Center. He will be buried in a private ceremony in Oklahoma.

Sonny was a gentle man who was much-loved by all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
