JD, a Nebraska native, served 22 years in the Air Force as a flight engineer on C-130s, including tours in Vietnam. He thereafter worked as a mail carrier for another 22 years. JD enjoyed country music, the Dallas Cowboys, hunting, fishing, and most of all, his family. He had many friends, for whom he would do most anything if they were in need.
JD will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 62 years, Deloris (Schafer), and his children, Jaymie Dawn Cain-Davis, Teresa Jo Cain, Deanne Cain Fischlein (Fred) and James Daniel Cain, Jr. (Kimi). JD will also be adoringly remembered by his grandchildren: Jessica Garrett (Braden), Anjelica Diaz (Michael), Anja Fischlein, Cozette Kale, Lara Fischlein, Frank McNabb, Natasha Dowdall (Kyle), Marty Fischlein (Dallas), Forrest Garrison, Cheyenne Finch (Evan), Atticus Cain and Zoey Cain; and four great grandchildren: Chaya, Sophie, Ellie, and Alice. JD is survived by three siblings: his brother Jerry and his sisters, Claire and Connie, and he is preceded in death by his brothers Leo, Daniel, Joe, Bill, Bob, and Ron and sisters Margaret, Eleanor, Frances, and Elaine.
Mass will be held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. on January 02, 2019, followed by a memorial service and interment at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in JD’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
