What can I say about Jack. He was not only a husband a grandfather but he was my dad as well. He as always given me sound advice. He was always there for me when I would have a anexity break down. I love you and will miss you greatly until we meet again. You are in your father hands now.

Death can only part you from us temporarily until finally reuniting together in heaven. There are no goodbyes for us because you'll always be in our hearts. Keep all of us safe and kiss our loved ones in heaven. We love you always Uncle Jack.

What can I say about my father:

Duty, decency, reliability, honor, dignity, respect and a love for God and Country: these are all qualities that my father not only held in high esteem, but practiced every day during his time on this earth.

He was a loving, devoted Husband, Father and Grand father. My Dad was not a man of great material wealth and yet he was a very, very rich man. Jack had lived his life wealthy in the grace he had been given, the unfathomable riches of Jesus Christ, and now he is with Jesus in glory. 

He was a man that treated all he met with compassion, dignity and respect. Whose reassuring presence we all felt during difficult times.

He was a serious and disciplined man, but he could never resist the opportunity to have a laugh with friends and loved ones, given half the chance.

He saw a lot during his lifetime:  a world ravaged by war, (he was himself served in the Air Force), and an uncertain world with the Cold War, the Oil Crisis, and Iraq all understandably influencing his views on the post-war world in which he himself grew up and, later, raised his own family. Also, the loss of his son and my brother JR (Jack H.Swan Jr.). Let alone the social and cultural revolution exploding around him with the onset of the 1960s to present times.

Dad was an child with three siblings (David, Dennis and Dorthy), who grew up in Michigan on the Swan farm up until his retirement in Colorado from Federal Government.

He married young to my Mom Darla and remained happily together for over half a century.As a father of two though, he was often happiest fishing,camping or hunting with his family or when he was left to his own deviceswhether it was building a shed, working on a car or tinkering with his many projects.

When I moved out of home and started my own family, I began to understand my father in new way.

We were able to find time to sit and discuss what it means to be a parent, particularly in a modern world that's fast-changing and very different to the one in which either of us were born.

Dad gave sage advice on everything from teaching my kids manners and responsibility, to the other important area of family life: keeping one's partner happy and the marriage healthy and alive.

Dad was a straightforward man who demanded little from those around him, and who expected only the best for those he loved.

Provided he heard regularly from us alland saw us whenever possiblehe was content.

To me, Dad's finest quality was his patience: an inherent ability to listen, to absorb and to offer a point of view based on quiet, measured wisdom.

I'll never forget the time when I asked him what I should do about having to move into the Mountains of Colorado for my career: Do what you feel, what you believe is right. Follow your gut, your heart, and you can't go wrong.

It's difficult to imagine him not being around and I'm not sure how we will all cope.
The grandchildren, Joshua and Trystin will miss him dearly.

It's strange to think that I can't just give him a call or pop around to have ask How to fix this conversations. 

Dad lived a long and happy life, who loved his God, Family and Friends ,and only succumbed to ill health right at the very end.

May the same be said of all of us when we leave this earth. He (or she) loved Jesus and trusted in Him. May we always keep our eyes focused on Jesus and our hearts devoted to Him... and may we seize every opportunity to share His saving grace with others. 
(Romans 14:7-8) For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. 

As we gather here today to remember and commemorate his life, lets bid him Not farewell, but rather till we meet again in Heaven. 

Rather than morn the passing of a man , remember a man that brought joy and fulfillment to many, and whose legacy will live on forever.

My Father didn't tell me how to live; He lived, and let me watch Him do it.

I know everytime I seen uncle jack he always had a smile on. One year me, my brother, and granny went to Colorado to visit.  We were all sitting down at the dinner table after eating and started to play rummy. Let me make this clear at that point in time I hadn't the slightest clue on how to play. 

Uncle jack sat me down next to him and coached me through the whole thing even tho he knew I wasn't suppose to see his cards...vise versa. In my head I was thinking I really don't want to play a stupid card game!  some how he had my attention and got me excited to play like he was always able to no matter what it was.  At the end of the hand I won somehow.  Till this day I think he let me win. 

Another story I'll make it short.  It was the same vaca as the first story but in this one I was riding a bike that had metal peddles I was going doin a steep hill as fast as I could and my foot slipped off . The peddle stabbed me in the shin right above my foot and slice me about a quarter of the way up my leg.  Gushing fluid uncle jack seen me coming up the hill peddling with one foot. He raced down and grabbed me off the bike and left it there taking me back to the house.  Then granny and aunt Darla came and patched me up. 

I love and miss you Great Uncle Jack!!! The name fits because you were a great person always have always will be no less but most definitely more.

We love you Uncle Jack. Watch over us and let Aunt Dee know we love her. Until we see you again RIP

I know when Jack entered in to his heavenly home the Lord said, welcome home thou good and faithful servant, welcome home.   I have prepared a place for you.
