He was born on June 20, 1951 in Oakland, California, to Howard and Mary Brazee. Growing up, he lived in California, Mexico, Maryland, and Connecticut, graduating from Gilbert High School in Winsted, Connecticut. He attended Waterbury State College before transferring to Iowa State University where he joined the Air Force ROTC. After graduating and being commissioned, he served as an Air Force officer before joining the civilian ranks, first in Missouri, where he met Pat, his wife of forty-four years, before coming to Colorado, where he called home for the rest of his life.
Howard reveled in Colorado, but he reveled more being a family man, taking great pride and joy in watching Ian and Lisa mature and start their own families. He never lost the joy of childhood, which is why he was always the favorite of the family children. He took his duties as a grandfather, uncle, and grand-uncle to his enormous heart, giving love and support to everyone.
If there was one thing that set Howard apart was that he always had a smile on his face and a ready joke or quip. He raised the spirits of all those around him.
A lifelong science fiction and fantasy fan, he was known to many of the most famous writers in the genres. He and Pat were fixtures at MileHiCon, the largest science fiction conference in the Rocky Mountain region.
Howard was a good man, in every sense of the word, and the world is a better place for his life journey on it.
Howard was pre-deceased by his parents, Howard and Mary, and brother David. He leaves behind the love of his life, Patricia, children Lisa and Ian, sisters Linda and Loralee, brother Jonathan, grandchildren Kyra, Sierra, Quinn, and Hayden, nieces Danielle, Margaret. Gracie, Danika, and Darika, nephews Zachary, Joshua, and Benjamin, grand-nieces Summer, Mina Lou, and Adele, and grand-nephews James and Benton.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday November 9, 2024 at Affinity at Lafayette Community Room, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Howard's favorite cookie was Oatmeal Raisin. Please bring Oatmeal Raisin or your favorite cookie to share.
