Gordon Wayne Hamilton of Erie, Colorado died on February 25, 2018 at the age of 66. Wayne’s love of skiing was reignited after he moved in February 2016 from Lincolnshire, Illinois to his retirement home in Erie, Colorado. He enjoyed skiing frequently with his daughter, Julia, and son-in-law Brian Bailey who live in Westminster, Colorado. Wayne was skiing on a beautiful, sunny day in Breckenridge with his son-in-law, Ryan Carlson, and nephew, Traver Hamilton, the day he died of an apparent heart attack.
Wayne and his wife, Jeanette, retired in 2016, to care for their twin grandsons, Jordan and Benjamin, born to Kelly and Ryan Carlson, who also live in Erie, Colorado. They adored spending time caring for their grandsons and watching them grow and develop. They enjoyed weekly dinners with their daughters, sons-in-law and grandsons, and went on many family vacations during their time in Colorado. Wayne was a wonderful father and grandfather, affectionately known as Daddio, to his daughters and Dobby, to his grandsons. He was excited to recently learn he would have another grandson to love in July when Julia and Brian are expecting their first child.
Since moving to Colorado, Wayne was also able to spend more time with his younger brother, Steve Hamilton, who lives with his wife, Diane, in Golden, Colorado. He was able to enjoy some fun and memorable road trips with his brother during the past year.
Wayne was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family. Celebrations of his life will be held in Chicago, IL and Montague, MI later this year.
