Glenda Jean Roberts, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Thornton, Colorado, after a long and meaningful life. Born on March 10, 1937, in Fraser, Colorado, Glenda was the cherished daughter of LeRoy E. Hauptman and Genevive C. Rabun. She was a beloved sister, a proud veteran, and a quiet soul who left an enduring mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Glenda’s early years were spent in the scenic mountain town of Fraser, where she developed a deep appreciation for the natural world and the simple pleasures of life. These early experiences nurtured a lifelong love of animals and a quiet, thoughtful demeanor that remained with her throughout her days.
Driven by a deep sense of duty and a desire to serve her country, Glenda enlisted in the United States Army on May 6, 1963. Her time in the military was one of the most significant chapters of her life. She served with dignity and pride, and though she rarely spoke about her accomplishments, those closest to her knew how much her service meant to her. Her strength, discipline, and unwavering sense of responsibility shaped not only her career but the way she carried herself in every aspect of her life.
Over the years, Glenda explored several different career paths. She was a woman of many talents and interests, never afraid to try something new or adapt to life’s changing circumstances. Whether in uniform or civilian clothes, Glenda brought a quiet determination and work ethic to everything she did.
Outside of her professional life, Glenda found true contentment in the comforts of home. She treasured peaceful evenings spent in quiet reflection, often with a beloved pet by her side. Her love for animals was a lifelong passion — she had a tender heart for creatures great and small, and she supported several animal welfare causes throughout her life. Those who knew her best will remember her gentle smile, her kind words, and her ability to listen without judgment.
Glenda is survived by her devoted sister, Priscilla Robles of Thornton, Colorado, who remained a constant source of love and companionship throughout her life. The bond they shared was unbreakable, grounded in shared memories, mutual respect, and unwavering support.
Though Glenda did not seek the spotlight, her legacy is one of quiet resilience, selfless service, and enduring love. She leaves behind a legacy of integrity, compassion, and grace — qualities that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A private remembrance will be held by her family at a later date, in accordance with Glenda’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to a local animal shelter or veterans’ organization — causes that Glenda held close to her heart.
Rest in peace, Glenda. You served your country and your loved ones with honor. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
