Geoffrey Evans Collins

Geoffrey Evans Collins, age 66, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2018. He was in the care of Denver Hospice. He fought a long battle with many physical ailments, and remained a fighter until the end. He remained passionate about his many lifelong interests.

Geoffrey wanted to be remembered as a teacher and he loved his students. He taught in and around the Denver area and his experience at Kunsmiller Jr. High School was a highlight for him. He taught general studies and gifted and talented students also. He was their football coach and along with a group of teachers took students on several cruises around the Caribbean and Mexico. He saw potential in children and helped draw that out with compassion and caring, he was a dedicated teacher.

Geoffrey’s interests varied from politics, the condition of our world and its people, sports and nature. Geoff’s father, was a naturalist and ornithologist and author. Geoff was not far behind in those pursuits. After visiting China in 1971, Geoff published an article for Ingénue magazine about his yearlong experience there.

Geoff and his former wife Jan followed the migration of the Sandhill Cranes in Colorado and travelled to several zoos in America following their interest and concern for animals, especially in captivity.

Geoff loved dancing swing style, old movies, mystery books, baseball and history especially of The Civil War. He was willing to teach anyone willing to listen.

Geoffrey was preceded in death by his Mother, Dr. Mary Evans Collins and his Father Henry Hill Collins, Jr.

Geoffrey is survived by his twin sister Jennifer Adema (Dwight), his beloved Jan Collins, his Uncle Bill Evans (Lois), and nephews, S. Brandon Williams, Evan Williams (Kathryn Dykema), Dylan Williams, and nieces, Lori Collins and Shoshana Diengott (Andrew) , great nephews, Haidan Williams and Sterling Williams, great nieces Saraya and Alexandra Diengott.

Geoff had a zest and love for life. He loved his neighbors and friends at Windsor Gardens in Denver, CO where he spent his last years.
