Emily Marie Loggan

Emily Marie Loggan of Thornton, CO passed away on April 11, 2025, at the age of 89, where she lived in her own apartment at Bethesda Gardens. Emily was born on January 11, 1936, in La Jara, Colorado to Gregorio and Helen Gonzales. The family lived and farmed in the San Luis Valley where they grew up. Her father and uncles were farmers and sheep herders.

Later in life, Emily pursued an administrative certificate from the Emily Griffith School. Emily had a varied work history, having had several different jobs over her lifetime. Most notable was Emily’s service with the US Fish and Wildlife Department of Interior where she retired after 14 years on September 30, 2004.

Emily was an avid reader in her younger years before she started losing her eyesight. She liked needlepoint and she enjoyed playing bingo too. She also liked going “up to the hill” to play the slots in Central City and Black Hawk. She seemed to have pretty good luck at it!

Emily is preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings.

Emily is survived by her four daughters, Tamara Loggan, Linda Loggan Helgeland (Ken Helgeland), Angela Loggan Ray (Patrick Ray) and Alicia Loggan as well as two siblings, Ray Gonzales and Nancy Miera. She has Four grandkids, Aly, Logan, Kyle and Kylie.

When we were young, it was great to get together with our aunts and uncles and cousins, what a tribe we had! We feel very blessed that our dear mom was able to enjoy a long and joyous life with her loved ones. She truly enjoyed having grandkids and helping to care for them and watch them grow into beautiful adults. She was always so interested in what they were all doing and accomplishing in life. She will be missed a bunch, and she will always be in our hearts! As Christians, we know where we can find her.

The family would like to thank The Denver Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our Mom in her final days.
