Eleanore Jean Vesper was born on February 17, 1938 to Carl Vesper and Ida Eleanore Vesper (Kreps) in Greenville, PA. She attended high school at Penn High School and participated in several sports. She played basketball and was a fast pitch pitcher in softball. However, her favorite sport in high school was volleyball. In her adult years, Ellie enjoyed bowling and won several trophies over the years. Upon graduating from Penn High School, she joined the United States Air Force in which she obtained the rank of Airman First Class and was stationed at ENT A.F.B. (currently know as Peterson A.F.B.) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was honorably discharged after her 3-year tour of duty. She worked at Hewlett Packard for over 21 years before semi-retiring. She then worked at H&R Block as a tax preparer before moving onto SCI (Service Corporation International) where she worked for over 10 years until her full retirement years.
Ellie loved animals and photography and spent many weekends outdoors photographing wildlife and nature. Since May of 2021, she has taken care of several feral cats. Her most recent beloved was Cuddles who although was feral, was lucky to share indoor living with her, often sleeping and “cuddling” on her lap in her recliner while she watched old “western” tv shows.
Ellie was a member of Sokka Gakkai, USA since 1982. Ellie was the only child of Carl and Ida Vesper. She has 2 surviving cousins Bill Krausser of Florissant, Colorado, and Karen Wentz of Lancaster, PA. Although she was an only child, she had “adopted” family in Carrie Warren, Camella Warren and Erica Evans, along with a small circle of trusted friends who loved and cared for her over the years.
Ellie was once asked, “If you had one piece of advice to leave the next generation, what would that be?” She said always try to be kind and giving towards others.”
