

Carol was born on April, 25 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Albert and Lucile Shiflet. She spent her childhood traveling around the world with her parents, since her father was a doctor in the Cavalry then Army. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in teaching and was part of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She then married Dick Buxton and had 3 children. She taught many different levels of school. After getting divorced, raising her kids, and meeting the love of her life Mike Kotar, she graduated with a master’s degree in human development from Colorado State University where she joined Phi Kappa Phi. Spirituality and growth were always important to Carol and came to fruition when she became a Practitioner of Religious Science at Mile Hi Church. She helped create the Care and Guidance Center where she helped many people. She also taught classes on spiritual and life growth using many different techniques. The goal of her life was to learn what makes life work both on the human level and spiritual level. She was active as a Practitioner until her death.
She is survived by her three sons, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, niece and nephew.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at Mile Hi Church 9077 W Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO 80226 on April 3 at 9:30 AM.
