Carla Mathews, of Broomfield, CO, passed away on January 31, 2025 at the age of 73. She was born in Gunnison, CO and grew up in Grand Junction, CO. Carla was a retired office worker for the Westminster County School District and for a short time worked at Western State University in Gunnison. She was actively involved in the senior water aerobics club at the Broomfield Community Center. Her interests were all kinds of crafts as well as jig saw puzzles.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Shirley Goad.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Mathews of Broomfield; sons, Jeff Mathews (Rachel) of Aurora, CO and Scott Mathews (Brynna) of Albuquerque, NM. The loves of her life were granddaughters, Peyton, Raegan and Charli Mathews of Aurora, CO. She also has a brother, Jack, living in Loveland CO; a niece and nephew plus three of their children.
A family celebration of life will be held in Gunnison, CO next fall, where her ashes will be spread near her mother’s ashes.
Donations would gladly be accepted in Carla’s memory by the Alzheimer’s Association Denver office.
