Calvin Elliott Kennedy

Born April 21, 1929, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Cal moved to Colorado and graduated from West High School in Denver in 1947. After a short time with the U.S. Postal Service, he began his career with Mountain Bell, where his expertise in communications led him to work on significant projects around the country.

After retiring from Mountain Bell in 1982, Cal continued his relationship with the Denver Broncos, overseeing game-day technology until 2003. His more than two decades with the organization placed him behind the scenes during one of the most memorable eras in Broncos history, helping ensure the technology essential to game day worked when it mattered most.

Away from work, Cal had a great passion for cars. A pioneer in the early days of drag racing, he was deeply involved in Colorado's hot rod and car club scene. His love of racing, hot rods, and the friendships built around them remained an important part of his life and reflected his lifelong fascination with technology, mechanics, and speed.

Cal was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Kennedy; mother, Christine Kennedy; sons, Wayne Kennedy and Bob Bromm; and his twin sisters and their husbands, Phyllis and Bud Biltz and Faye and Kenny Miline.

He is survived by his wife, LuAnne Kennedy; daughters-in-law Julie Kennedy and Joyce Bromm; daughters Cynthia Plooster, Theresa Banta and husband John, Michelle Wilson and husband John II, Donna Layton and husband Jerry; six grandsons; multiple great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have a celebration of life for Cal on Oct 3rd at a place to be announced at a later date. You’re welcome to come share a memory or two.
