Bob was born on August 4th, 1925 in Monmouth, Illinois, to Minnie and Edward Toal, the 5th of 8 children. He served as a medic in WWII throughout Europe. He spent much of his working life as a tooling inspector, first in southern California and then in Denver. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and an avid golfer. Bob’s biggest hobby and passion was playing the horses. He studied the statistics extensively, always looking for a good long shot.
Bob married Ruth Barbara Neff on August 29th, 1952 in Santa Monica, CA. They first met in Los Angeles after Bob moved there from Illinois and Ruth from Nebraska. They spent most of their years in Denver with some time also in Las Vegas during their retirement.
Bob was a simple and reserved man by nature, a devout Catholic who cared deeply about his family and was a true example of a man with empathy and compassion for all. Bob was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Ruth.
Bob leaves his wife of 66 years, Ruth, his 5 children, Ted (Donna) and children Rion and Kristen, Keith (Patty) and children Lisa and Ian, Paula (Brian) and children Erik and Sara, Stan (Janet) and Darryl, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Bob has two surviving sisters, Doris Kogut and Janice Scheel of Las Vegas and one surviving brother, Jack Toal, of Tucson. Bob was preceded in death by sisters Jane Shenbarger and Phyllis Patterson and brothers Bill and Dick Toal.
