If you ever had the joy of hearing a piano suddenly come to life in a quiet room, chances are “Grandma Boo” was nearby—smiling, singing along, and playing beautifully…by ear, of course. Buelah Peters, lovingly known as “Boo” to friends and “Grandma Boo” to family, passed away peacefully just days before her 93rd birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a few great dance moves.
Buelah's greatest achievements weren’t measured in awards or accolades—but in hugs given, piano tunes played, and the quiet, unwavering devotion she gave to her family. She was married to the love of her life, Carl Peters, for 74 years—a partnership that could only be rivaled by a good two-step and a lifetime supply of patience. Together, they built a life centered around family, friendship, and the kind of enduring love that even Hallmark would struggle to capture.
Boo worked hard throughout her life, bringing her joy and warmth to every job she held—from Hi’s Western and the First Bank of Castle Rock to her favorite position working for Dr. Klaus and his wife at their family clinic. But her real full-time job, the one she never clocked out of, was being the heart of her home.
She was a drum majorette in high school, a lover of all music, and a spontaneous dance partner anytime a good beat came on. With a gifted ear, she could sit down at a piano and turn any moment into a melody—no sheet music required. And while she may have been sweet and gentle, don’t be fooled—Boo had rhythm, style, and a whole lot of spunk.
Buelah’s spirit was endlessly kind, forgiving, and ready with a hug—even when you didn’t know you needed one. She was the friend you could call at any hour, and the grandma who made every moment feel like home. Her joy was simple: loving deeply, laughing often, and making sure everyone had a full heart (and preferably a full plate). She lived her life as a Christian always believing in Jesus Christ and was a huge influence in our family as we all learned from her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Minnie Mae and John Lake Hammond, and her sister Beryl Livingood.
She is survived by her devoted husband Carl Peters, daughters Darla Dee Scott (Marty) and Jana Jill Stanley (Ken), dear sister Bonnie Bell, grandchildren Krista Olson, Kimberly Hawes (Nathan), Chad Curtis, Kensie Cheatwood (Nathan), and her treasured great-grandchildren Wyatt and Jake Hawes; Kellen, Bennett, and Cody Cheatwood; Leah and Axel Curtis. Along with Charlie Curtis.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Monday May 12th at 1:30pm
In Lieu of Flowers Please consider a donation in her memory to two causes close to the family’s heart: Huntington’s Disease Society of America or American Diabetes Association
