Ann Mason

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we honor the life and legacy of Dorothy Ann Mason, age 83, who passed away on August 9, 2026, following a brave battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Dementia. Born on January 11, 1943, in Hartford, Connecticut, and raised in Newport Beach, California, Ann's journey through life left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The beloved daughter of Thomas S. Mason and Shirley Ann Mason, Ann was predeceased by her devoted parents and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Kay Mason. Sadly, her sister, Martha Lynn Scott, age 78, followed her in death on August 21, 2026. Ann is now lovingly remembered by her cherished children, Brenda (Steve) Albery and Brian (June) Martinez. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Jennifer Albery, Jaylene (Timothy) Carrillo, Alexandra Martinez, and Binket Bourrillion; as well as her adored great-grandchildren Zoey Boyles, Isabella Carrillo, Kaylee Boyles, and Ayden Carrillo. She is remembered fondly by her surviving sibling, Bruce Hayes Mason and her brother-in-law James Scott. Her family was the center of her universe, and her love and pride for them knew no bounds.

Ann's life was marked by a passion for learning and a commitment to her career. After graduating from Newport Harbor High School, she pursued her interest in accounting at Red Rocks Community College. She went on to serve with dedication as an accountant for the United States Department of Interior, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Reclamation until her retirement in 2000.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ann was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an avid plastic canvas stitcher and a fierce competitor at Rummikub, but her greatest joy was in spending time with her family. Known for her beautiful smile and easy-going nature, she loved hosting an annual party on the lake, which she fondly called the Riviera. Whether it was a lake, river, or ocean, Ann's heart belonged to the water.

Her chocolate chip cookies and peanut brittle will be known for generations. Ann's voice would fill the room when she sang karaoke with her sister or grandchildren, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Her generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand will forever be remembered by those who knew her.

A special thank you is extended to her brother-in-law, James and on Marty’s behalf, for the joy and love they brought to Ann's life, and for those cherished visits with Lola, their fur baby. Ann’s family also extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Morningstar of Littleton and the Denver Hospice care team, including Erin, Kathleen, Ron, and Vivian, for their unwavering support and compassion.

Ann's wish was to have a party rather than a formal memorial service. Therefore, in her and her sister's honor, their family will host a Lake Party, on September 5, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Friends and loved ones are invited to join in celebrating the beautiful life of two truly remarkable women.
