William Myers Hester, age 81, of Altamonte Springs, FL, peacefully passed away on February 17, 2025, after a difficult battle with Vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Bill Was born on August 10, 1943, to Ardelle and Walter Hester in Tampa and grew up in the small town of Edgewater, FL, spending most of his youth on the beach in New Smyrna, FL.
He was a talented basketball player and earned a scholarship to Stetson University, where he met and married his wife Monica and graduated in 1965. He then pursued a Master’s Degree at the University of Florida. After graduation he, he worked as an Aerospace Engineer for almost 40 years at Lockheed Martin. Bill was passionate about basketball, football, golf, car racing, poker, and mechanics.
A traditional man with a keen intellect, he valued hard work, honesty, and caring for his family. Bill retired in 2006 after many years of dedicated service. While retired, Bill and Monica enjoyed tennis, travel, puzzles, pets, music, and family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Monica, and their two children Sonya and Sean Hester.
