She was an office manager, did clerical work and also was employed in the restaurant business, as well as a part time job in Tupperware.
She suffered from Alzheimer’s for about 20 years, before her passing. She took care of her own mother who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 1989.
She enjoyed making friends in the Florida sunshine after suffering many snowy seasons in Indiana. She and Dave moved in 2014, in Dave’s retirement village, NALCREST (National Association of Letter Carriers) in Lake Wales, Florida.
Her husband Dave was a faithful, loving and compassionate man who took care of her in her final years and months with the help of some health aides in their home. She thankfully knew who he was until the very end. Her last words to Dave were “I Wuv You”, 4 short days before her passing, at Advent Health Hospital in Lake Wales. She opened her eyes one final time, for her husband to send her off in a prayer and a final goodbye, before passing away in the hospital.
Many thanks to the Advent Health Care System in taking such good care of her in her final 5 days.
Vada’s Celebration of Life service will be at their retirement village, NALCREST Community Center in Lake Wales, Florida, on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 5:00 pm, with a light meal afterwards, for the out of town family/friends as well as the neighbors in their retirement village. She was loved and will be remembered by everyone she met while living there for the last 9 years.
In lieu of flowers, although she did love her many flowers at their home, donations can be made to an Alzheimer’s Foundation in her memory.
