Thomas Joe Meadows of Merritt Island, Florida passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born on March 18, 1931 in Howard County, Indiana where he grew up with his parents and younger brother Edward. They lived in a rural area. He attended school in this area and graduated high school. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean war and was honorably discharged in May of 1952.
In his younger days, he helped his grandfather on his farm. Then he was an over the road long distance truck driver, some factory work, worked at the Kennedy Space Center, heavy equipment inspector with a large corporation prior to starting his own heavy equipment business and retired from that business.
Thomas was actively involved in the Moose Fraternal Organization. He belonged to a RV travel club, loved boating, was an avid scuba diver, traveled to many other countries. Thomas loved all things racing and could be found most Sunday’s actively watching the latest NASCAR event.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Helen Meadows, his wife Mildred Meadows, his eldest daughter Robin Meadows and his brother, Edward Meadows.
Thomas is survived by children; Tracy Singleton, daughter, Thomas Meadows, son, Brenda Hilpertshauser, daughter, Troy Meadows, son. Also survived by grandchildren; Amanda Hilpertshauser, Leah Cancel, Carlie Hilperstshauser, Julie Concepcion, Lindsey Wooten, Adam Meadows, Emma Meadows, Kayla Meadows, Jessica Smith and 5 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Hospice of St. Francis for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days. And also Andrea B. from BrightStar Care who was invaluable by compassionately caring for him in his last days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Merritt Island Moose Lodge Tuesday, November 21st at 2 PM.
