Susan was born in Toledo,Ohio on December 14,1953 to Richard James and Mary Lu O'Neill. She graduated from McCauley, all-girl, Catholic High School. Attending McCauley was so important to Susan, she worked while in high school to pay for her own tuition.
Shortly after graduation, Susan relocated to Orlando, Florida where she established a successful career in construction. Her duties ranged from administrative assistant to project management, with the latter being her passion. Another passion of Susan's was being an avid beach goer. She absolutely loved the sun on her beautiful skin.
She remained active within her community by volunteering for organizations, including her church. Susan traveled to South America with her church on a mission trip to help build schools in third world countries for those less fortunate. She also volunteered regularly with Bicycle Blessings, repairing bicycles to be distributed to those in need in her community. Susan was a very active volunteer in community theater, and also loved the fine arts. She had many friends from all walks of life.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary Lu. Susan is survived by her two children; Raymond "David" Leichty, Charlotte Sandra Menard; grandson Anthony Leichty, granddaughters Nicole Brown, Madison, Megan, Kaitlyn and Allisyn Leichty; and stepson Shannon Rickenbrode; sister Debbie O'Neill Holtzen (Roger) of GA.; brother Rick O'Neill (Emily) of S.C.; sister Mary O'Neill Keefe and brother Thomas O'Neill of FL.; also 6 nephews, 1 niece and 1 great niece.
Susan's tenacity and spunk will be missed by all who knew her. She always looked out for the underdog. Rest in peace, Susan.
A service will be held at Surfside Community Church at 1720 Cox Road, Cocoa, Florida 32926 on June 10th, 2023 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
